Therefore, it is important that the work is summarized in a way that can be understood by individuals who are not experts in the nominee’s specific field or area of research.

CGS/ProQuest Distinguished Dissertation Awards
For purposes of this competition, history is considered with the humanities. Eligibility Guidelines The effective date of degree awarded or the completion of doctoral degree requirements must fall in the period of July 1, to June 30,inclusive. We request that you prepare nominations now for any outstanding students who graduated this academic year, as the nomination packet must include an extended abstract written by the student and three disserfation of recommendation written by the committee chair, a committee member and a third distinguizhed of the student’s choice.
An abstract not to exceed 10 double-spaced pages of the student’s dissertation. Cggs/proquest the dissertation is multi- or interdisciplinary in nature, at least one of these fields should comprise a significant portion of the work.
If appendices are included, they should be referenced in the abstract. Students who have graduated between July 1, 8 and June 30, 20 20 a two-year period are eligible.

UBC will forward up to one nominee in each category to the international competition open to all institutions who are members of the Council of Graduate Schools vgs/proquest the US and Canada.

The nominee’s curriculum vitae not to exceed five pages. Humanities and Fine Arts: These categories cover a broad range of programs and disciplines, so there is no guarantee that your material will be reviewed by someone from your specific field. We request that you submit to us distinguushed best students who have graduated between July 1, 7 and June 30, 9 a two-year period.
Appendices containing nontextual material, such as charts or tables, may be included as additional pages not to exceed 10 pages.
CGS/ProQuest Distinguished Dissertation Award
For purposes of this competition, engineering technologies are not included. Once again, keep in mind that your materials may be reviewed by someone outside your field.
Objective selection criteria are not provided by the CGS. What may be obvious to you in terms of the work’s impact may not be clear to the outside reviewer unless it is explicitly stated.
